Tim Wright was decades ahead of his time adopting holistic farming. Now multinationals such as McDonald’s are raising their standards and less altruistic farmers are having to follow suit.

Tim Wright is a 70-year-old grazier who manages 3000 sheep and 500 head of cattle on his 3350-hectare property, 22 kilometres west of Uralla, near Armidale, in the Northern Tablelands area of NSW.

An early adopter of farming techniques known as holistic management, Wright is ahead of the climate-changing times. His land was designated a wildlife refuge in the late 1960s, and he’s guided by a philosophy to tread lightly on the earth, protecting the natural environment and the welfare of his animals…
